Leona Maguire records her first professional win

Leona Maguire recorded her first professional win at the Windsor Golf Classic in California last week with rounds of 70, 69 and 65 winning on the first play-off hole to Pajaree Anannarukarn from Thailand.

The result put Leona in first position on the Volvik Race for the Card, with the top ten at the end of the season receiving playing rights on the LPGA Tour.

Leona went on to say ‘I’m delighted to win my first event as a professional. I have felt my game has been in a good place for a while and have just had to stay patient. I’m so pleased with the win and I am now looking forward to getting back to Ireland to celebrate with my friends and family’.

Modest Golf owner Niall Horan commented ‘All of the team are so delighted with Leona’s win. Leona is so hard working and she really deserves this. I’m excited to see what else the season has in store for Leona’.

Leona now heads back to Europe to play on the Ladies European Tour at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco and the Moonlight Classic in Dubai.

Leona is sponsored by KPMG, Allianz, the Davy Group, Puma, Red Bull Ireland and represents the Slieve Russell Golf and Country Club.
